Civil Aviation: 18% Increase in Passengers Traffic at the Airport Last June
Directorate General of Civil Aviation said that passengers traffic at Kuwait International Airport increased by 18% last June to 1,222,449 passengers as compared to 1,034,477 passengers in the same period of 2017. In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Tuesday, Deputy Director General for Aviation Safety Affairs, Air-Transport & Safety Systems Coordination Center Mr. Emad Al-Jalawi, said that arriving- passengers traffic reached 505,653 passengers last June as compared to 417,337 passengers in the same period of 2017. Mr. Al-Jalawi explained that the departing-passengers traffic was 716,796 passengers last June as compared to 617,140 passengers during the same month of 2017. He added that the total number of flights traffic operated from and to Kuwait International Airport during last June reached 10,071 flights as compared to 8,998 flights during the same period of 2017, pointing out that the number of incoming and outgoing commercial flights during last June amounted to nearly 9,768 voyages as compared to 8,593 voyages in May 2017. (2) He indicated that the cargo traffic at Kuwait International Airport reached nearly 19.22 Million kilograms as compared to the same period last year where the total cargo traffic amounted to 18.75 Million kilograms. He pointed out that the inbound cargo traffic last June amounted to nearly 14.91 Million kilograms as compared to 14.31 Million kilograms in the same period of 2017, while the outbound cargo traffic amounted to 4.3 Million kilograms last June as compared to 4.4 Million kilograms in May 2017.
