H.E. the President of Kuwait Civil Aviation: Collaboration with IATA will enhance our expertise in air transport

The President of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation – H.E. Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Homoud Al-Sabah meets with the Vice President of International Air Transport Association (IATA) for Africa & Middle East Region (AME) – Mr. Muhammad Ali Albakri Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Homoud Al-Sabah, the President of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation - State of Kuwait, stated on Wednesday that collaboration with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) represents a valuable addition towards enhancing the expertise of sectors at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and also benefiting from the latest developments attained by IATA. This came in a statement by H.E. Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after meeting with the Vice President of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for Africa & Middle East Region (AME) – Mr. Muhammad Ali Albakri, to discuss joint cooperation in the areas of aviation safety, air navigation, operations, planning, information technology, management of air transport, and training. H.E. Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah further stated that the purpose of visit of IATA’s delegation to the country was to hold bilateral workshops with various sectors of DGCA in order to prepare towards signing a memorandum of collaboration between the two parties. During the meeting, aviation security issues were discussed in the meeting in order to uphold it as a major part of the State's duties to safeguard the security and safety of passengers. H.E. the President also highlighted the importance of implementing security procedures and the global aviation security plan issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). A collaboration in the program of Improving Management of Aviation Traffic was also discussed in order to increase the level of efficiency of navigation systems, thereby achieving actual progress in this domain. On the other hand, the Vice President of IATA AME – Mr. Albakri said in a similar statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the meeting was held within the framework of mutual and continuous collaboration with Civil Aviation, Kuwait. Mr. Albakri praised the role of H.E. Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah in supporting the developmental programs which aim at modernizing and developing the air transport industry locally, regionally and globally. The Vice President of IATA AME continued by stating that IATA appreciates and values the strategic partnership with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Kuwait, especially in matters of vital importance and impact to the industry in the region such as aviation security, managing the skies, development of human resources and infrastructure. Furthermore, Mr. Albakri explained that IATA is currently discussing, studying and closely examining the developmental plans of passenger terminals at Kuwait International Airport and the strategic plans related to aviation security and safety. In closing, the Vice President of IATA AME expressed his hope for the continuous progress and prosperity of Civil Aviation in Kuwait and its pursuit to achieve international levels which would contribute towards the significant expansion in the aviation sector to support and develop the local and regional economy.
