Kuwait and United Kingdom Sign a Memorandum of Understanding that Regulates Air-Operations between Both Countries
Today (Tuesday), the Directorate General of Civil Aviation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Aviation Authority of the United Kingdom, which aims to update the bilateral arrangements regulating air-operation between both countries and increase collaboration between them in the field of Civil Aviation. The President of Civil Aviation, Sheikh/ Abdullah Ali Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, said in a press statement that the Memorandum includes amendments to some provisions of the Agreement signed in full on 24th July 2018. Sheikh/ Abdullah added that the Memorandum regulates the operating rules for the national airline companies between the two countries, takes into account the continuous growth in air-traffic of both passengers and cargo, and allows the exercise of transportation rights under the Fifth Freedom Right on intermediate points and also points beyond the boundaries of the two countries. He added that this Memorandum is in line with updating the policy of the Directorate General Civil Aviation to open the skies and encourage international airline companies to increase their flights from and to Kuwait International Airport. He mentioned that the Memorandum contributes to facilitating the traffic of both passengers and air-cargo and to linking Kuwait International Airport with the largest number of international airports through a global network of airlines, the matter which would enhance air-transport between the two countries, encourage trade exchange between Kuwait and the United Kingdom, and endeavor to provide new and diverse options to serve the passengers.
