Civil Aviation Launches Ground Services Development Plan at Kuwait International Airport

H.E. President of Civil Aviation Sheikh Salman Al-Homoud disclosed that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has adopted an ambitious plan, in collaboration with the bodies operating at the airport, to develop and upgrade the services rendered to passengers, with high efficiency in line with the international airports, whether in the check-in counters’ area, gate-entry area, or baggage receiving area. The aim is to promote operation efficiency and quality of services rendered at Kuwait Airport and its facilities. In a statement yesterday, Al-Homoud said that the strategic objectives of the plan set out by the Civil Aviation are to retain the reputation and status of services rendered at the airport, and to promote the level of services provided to the operating airline companies or to the passengers. He added that the "Civil Aviation" plan, which was adopted in collaboration with the two ground service companies operating at Kuwait International Airport, which are Kuwait Airways Company and National Aviation Services Company, is in accordance with the agreements of the service levels recognized at the world airports, and the requirements of the civil aviation specialized organizations. A Step Forward (2) From his side, the Director-General of Civil Aviation - Eng. Yousef Al-Fouzan, described signing the agreement as "Step Forward" in rendering the ground services, indicating that the "Civil Aviation" is working towards providing services that would make Kuwait International Airport an exemplar that competes with the world airports. In a statement, Eng. Al-Fouzan said that “The most important of these services is the safe delivery of baggage from and to the aircraft, and the provision of special services for some passengers, which will be an addition." On his part, Board Chairman of Kuwait Airways - Mr./ Yousef Al Jassim, said that signing the agreement came under the support of the Civil Aviation Authorities, indicating that it represents a step forward in affirming Kuwait's concern about airport services in general and those rendered to passengers in particular, which are no longer considered in various world countries as unplanned or performed as simple and spontaneous matter, but instead are governed by international rules and performance standards, which the "Civil Aviation" is keen on making them available in the State of Kuwait. He added that “Kuwait Airways” and “NAS”, being the service providers at Kuwait Airport under the patronage of the “Civil Aviation”, have signed the protocol of developing the ground services at the airport, which the passengers will be noticing during (3) their departure or return trips, particularly after implementing the international performance standards to measure the extent of adherence by the companies in providing their services according to such international standards, which is actually practiced universally. Besides, since the “Civil Aviation”, as the regulator of aviation activities, is monitors all airline and service companies, thus we are witnessing today the launch of a new era and qualitative transition in this domain." Concerning the most important aspects of the development process, Mr./ Al-Jassim said that "When we talk about aviation services, they include everything related to passenger when he comes to the airport, starting from the check-in and processing the travel services all the way until his arrival to the aircraft, in addition to the services rendered to the aircraft, whether for Kuwaiti companies operating in Kuwait or the others. Therefore, whatever relates to the airport and its facilities constitute the intended services, upon which the standards of compliance and accountability will be applied and which must be performed in accordance with international standards." From his side, the General Manager of NAS Company, Kuwait - Mr./ Mansour Al-Khuzaim said that the aim of signing this agreement is to improve the level of services at Kuwait International Airport, in the same manner applied regionally or within the Gulf region, along with enhancing the regulatory role and level of service.
